One of Madison’s most prominent early architects designing the third Wisconsin capitol building, old city hall, as well as many homes in Mansion Hill.

Committed suicide by filling his pockets with rocks and walking into Lake Mendota at picnic point.

Cause of Death: Accidental shooting

Monument says "The latter (Marie Kutzbock) is the mother of Mrs. L. J. Steiner" and "erected by wife and children".
