John Hosmer Lathrop Jun 23, 1834 – Apr 1857
Leopold Lathrop Aug 8, 1835 – Apr 26, 1858

Brothers, they were born a little more than a year apart, died within about a year of each other, and were both 22 when they died

The broken columns on their monument are a symbol of life cut short

Father, John Hiram Lathrop, was the first Chancellor at the Universtity of Wisconsin 1849 – 1858

Probably just a memorial, there is no record either are burried here.
