Andrew J. Ward Mar 1, 1824 – Jul 10, 1893
A surgeon for the Iron Brigade during the Civil War.
At Gettysburg he amputated Lucius Fairchild's left arm. Lucius is buried only a few feet away.
At the Wilderness he saw 900 wounded in a couple of days.
Ward returned to Madison after the war with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
