Vilas Family – Section 31
  • This is the largest monument in Forest Hill Cemetery. Made in Vermont by the
          Vermont Granite Company.
  • Total Weight 60 tons, the shaft alone weighs 40 tons.
  • The shaft is 32 feet high and 3.5 feet each side of the bottom.
  • The Largest base block is 10 feet each side.
  • To move it from the railroad station, tracks were laid in sections, alternating the
          sections from behindto the front as it moved.
