The diocese prepares the site for a new cathedral to replace it. The steeple will be removed
in three sections. Reynolds will first take down the cross and sphere that sit atop the
steeple. They will then remove the tapered section that comprises the largest portion of
the steeple. The base of the structure will be the last part removed. The Diocese plans to
store the steeple at a downtown warehouse owned by Reynolds, who has offered to store the
steeple for free for one year.
