The People's Stories of South Madison, Volume 1

Compiled and edited by artist and journalist David Giffey. The book, published in a magazine format, is a compilation of 20 interviews of south side residents, including Mary B. Caire, Regina Rhyne and Ald. Matthew Sloan. “It connects the past with the present,” Gene Parks said today, adding that more volumes are expected. “It is a good first effort and whets the appetite for more. It is just an outstanding book covering a history of a portion of the community that is beginning to get more attention.” The book is expected to be available at city libraries, churches on the south side and the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County.
