It was to this building in 1966 that the Cheneys brought home their first-born child, a daughter, Elizabeth. Born in Madison General Hospital on July 28, 1966.
Born exactly nine months and two days after the Selective Service regulations were changed to only exempt married men with children, Elizabeth served, even before her birth, as the justification for Cheney's fifth draft deferment."
