Orson Wells
Welles lived here during a part of his youth in a flat on Hawthorne Ct.. He attended
the former Washington School at Park and Johnson streets.
In the summer of 1925, the10-year-old Welles attended Camp Indianola on the north
shore of Lake Mendota. One night, Welles reportedly was sexually accosted by a
UW-Madison psychology instructor who ran the camp. The boy jumped in a boat and
rowed across the lake to Madison.
