State Employee Strike

July 1977 – Madison, WI
The 24,000-member Wisconsin State Employees Union went on strike on July 3, 1977. WSEU members were informed of the strike by "a sophisticated communications system revolving around the telephone."

The 15-day strike was prompted when the state refused to submit to arbitration.
