Teresa McGovern died of exposure Dec. 13, 1994 in Madison after a 30-year battle with
alcoholism. She had been in and out of alcohol treatment programs since moving there in the
1970s. She was the daughter of presidential candidate George McGovern.
She had moved into a new apartment the day before her body was found behind a printing shop
on Williamson St. following a bitterly cold night.
