Four West High students died when their car lost control at a high rate of speed and failed to
maneuver an S curve on Tokay Boulevard. It was a ritual amongst West students to see how fast you
could take the curve. The car skidded 324 feet, flipped over and slid another 118 feet on its roof
before stopping. The gas cap had come off the car, and with it upside down the gas spilled out and
ignited, burning the four inside.
