West Point

Located just east of the inlet to Mendota County Park, was used by the Ho Chunk for corn fields and contains a number of effigy mounds. According to the Ho Chunk, the Thunderbirds lived here – mighty gods in the form of a giant, supernatural bird that symbolized power, strength, and nobility.
