A large frame Queen Anne style house built for J. W. Hobbins as an investment in 1879.
Hobbins built several investment properties in Mansion Hill. In the 1890s it was the
home of Gen. E. E. Bryant, an early resident of Monroe who moved to Madison and
practiced an as an attorney, taught at the UW Law School and was active in politics and
public service.
